There’s nothing much going on with the team right now, so here are some stories about former Vikes:
Sad: Ex-Viking safety Orlando Thomas is dying of ALS. He was diagnosed with the terminal illness, also called Lou Gehrig’s disease, in 2004, and is presently paralyzed from the waist up and unable to get out of bed. His wife Demetra, who he married in 1998, is at his side.
Kind of funny: Brad Johnson will get his wish to start with the Dallas Cowboys – as a holder. You can’t blame them for going with Brad after the Tony Romo fiasco last year, but still, with all that kneeling, I’d be worried about Brad throwing something out. He ain’t no spring-chicken.
More Daunte: The NFLPA has decided to file a grievance on behalf of Daunte Culpepper, whom the Dolphins are still not allowing to practice with the team. A similar grievance was filed on behalf of Steve McNair after he was locked out of Titans practice last off-season, and McNair was quickly released, and landed with Baltimore.
Still more Daunte: Terry Foster of The Detroit News says the Lions are not interested in securing Culpepper’s services. Apparently they think Jon Kitna is better. That’s an insult unto itself.
For Daunte, the CFL beckons.
Actually, I'm thinking UFL. Why would Daunte go and sit on the bench or play in Canada when he could be a new league's signature player?
Cuban and Culpepper. That could be an interesting combo. They need to pry Moss away from the Pats though. And get Denny Green to coach. Perfect.
