Winfield’s Change Of Heart

Antoine Winfield has had a change-of-heart. Rather than go on sulking like a little so-and-so, he has decided to show up for this week’s voluntary OTAs – and Brad Childress couldn’t be more, um, mildly gratified:

I’m excited to have his leadership back here. He’s a talented veteran.

Don’t turn a cartwheel Chill – might strain yourself.

Seriously though…I’m sure Childress is happy to see Winfield finally give up his campaign of non-volunteering. That was about the only thorny issue facing the team this off-season – besides the fact that their offense is laughable.

Speaking of which, I’m sure we shouldn’t read Winfield’s return to OTAs as a sign that he’s changed his mind about the state of the team. He certainly still thinks that Tarvaris Jackson sucks, and that most of our wide receivers would have a hard time cracking the starting line-up for a CFL team. The fact that he’s showing up proves he’s willing to put aside his differences with the organization and just work. But no one should read this as a vindication of Childress and his alleged kick-assery. The underlying situation is still the same as ever.

Ballhype: hype it up!
