O-Line Talk

A pair of items concerning the Vikings offensive line (which we just don’t talk about nearly enough):

First…The Sporting News has ranked the interior linemen for teams in the NFC, and the Vikings’ trio of Steve Hutchinson, Matt Birk and Artis Hicks has placed second, behind only the Bears’ Brown, Kreutz and Garza. Most of that has to do with Hutch and Birk of course – all sane people think Hicks is little more than a decent stop-gap until a real right guard can be drafted or otherwise acquired.

Second…The supplemental draft is coming up July 12, and one eligible player who may be on the Vikings’ radar is former Maryland tackle Jared Gaither. The massive Gaither (6-foot-9, 350 pounds) was projected as a possible first-round pick in next year’s draft, but was recently declared academically ineligible, and has made himself available for the supplemental draft this year. Any team that takes him would have to forfeit next year’s second-round pick – but given his size and agility, and the Vikes’ rather glaring need at right-tackle, it would seem almost a no-brainer for the team to take him should they have a chance.

Ballhype: hype it up!

If the Bears have the best O-line in the NFC, then that speaks volumes on how bad of a QB Grosswoman is.ESPN ranks the Vikes QB situation as one of the worst in the league, yet it is the QB situation in the NFC North that actually gives us some hope for a title.Favre is on his last legsKitna is… well – KitnaGrosswoman – 'nuff said….
