Indispensable Vikes

ESPN loves polls nearly as much as it loves giving work to ex-players who have no noticeable communication skills. Their new SportsNation survey asks fans to choose the player from each team they feel that team can least afford to lose. The Vikings‘ five candidates are Steve Hutchinson, Bryant McKinnie, Kevin Williams, Pat Williams and Antoine Winfield. Yes I’m laughing at the Bryant McKinnie one too. But that’s not even the most amusing thing about the list. The funniest thing is that the Vikes are the only team in the NFC portion of the poll not to have a single skill-position player listed among their five (the Bears do if you count Devin Hester as a receiver which he will reportedly be at least on a trial basis). It is of course sadly appropriate that the Vikes’ skill guys would be so horribly disrespected. They haven’t earned respect yet, not even from ESPN SportsNation.

By the way, the answer from among the Vikings’ five nominees has to be Kevin Williams. He’s arguably the only player they have who other teams fear. Except Hutchinson but that’s only because he’s so damn mean.

Ballhype: hype it up!
