The Star-Trib’s Judd Zulgad says he doubts the Vikings will be bringing in Kelly Holcomb or any other veteran QB for that matter. Zulgad says he thinks Brad Childress “prefers to go with younger guys and players he’s more comfortable coaching.” In other words, people who are inexperienced and green and won’t question him. Lovely.

Meanwhile, MSNBC‘s Steve Silverman, in an article about coaches on the hot-seat, calls Childress “insecure” and says Zygi Wilf will be forced “into action” if the team loses in double-digits.

Sports dinosaur Sid Hartman says newly-signed offensive lineman Adam O’Conner‘s versatility – he plays both guard and tackle – gives him a shot at making the roster as a back-up.

The Daily Norseman‘s Gonzo is mad because CNN-SI left Fran Tarkenton out of some daffy list of the all-time greatest athletes by jersey number. Tarkenton, who wore number 10, was beaten by such notables as Zinedine Zidane, aka the guy Americans would never have heard of had he not head-butted that other guy. This is the greatest injustice since Tarkenton was left off the list of greatest athletes ever to hawk crap on television at two in the morning.

Pacifist Viking takes a stab at getting us all hyped over the great year Bryant McKinnie is going to have. That’s if Bryant’s not too distracted by all the sex he’s having with Wimbledon champ Venus Williams.

Adrian Peterson has filmed a commercial for EA Sports NCAA Football ’08, which features the Vikings rookie doing play-by-play for a game between his own Oklahoma Sooners and Boise State. He’s already better than Curt Menefee.
