The supplemental draft happens today. The Vikings are said to be interested in OT Jared Gaither, CB Paul Oliver and OT Chris Patrick. Should they choose one of these players, they will be forced to forfeit a 2008 draft pick, and will have to fit that player’s contract within their rookie allotment of $4.8 million. I’m on the edge of my seat, aren’t you?
According to Scouts, Inc., the Vikes have the 5th best running back corps in the league. There’s something we don’t suck at!
Fantasy Tipster ranks Tarvaris Jackson the 30th best QB in the league, ahead of Oakland’s Josh McCown/JaMarcus Russell tandem and Cleveland’s Charlie Frey/Derek Anderson combo. Yeah, yeah…tell me something I don’t know.
SI.com’s Bucky Brooks, in his NFC North camp preview, lists “Find a no. 1 receiver” as the Vikings’ biggest challenge. I’d be satisfied if they could find a no. 3 receiver at this point.
The Vikings have added OL Seppo Evwaraye to the practice squad. Seppo is from Finland. I mention this only as a very weak excuse for mentioning the great movie Leningrad Cowboys Go America, which is Finnish, and which you should see if you get the chance. Gonzo of the Daily Norseman uses the same story as an excuse for a weak Van Halen reference. There is of course no other kind of Van Halen reference. Somehow we both avoided a bad Marx Brothers-related pun.
