Culpepper Cut By Dolphins
Daunte Culpepper has finally been given his release by the Miami Dolphins. This frees the weak-kneed quarterback to be signed by another team, probably the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he would be reunited with former Vikings head coach Mike Tice, currently an assistant under Jag’s coach Jack Del Rio. The release comes after much unpleasantness, including an incident where Culpepper was escorted from Dolphins practice by security. Culpepper recently filed a grievance against the Dolphins, which was scheduled to be heard tomorrow – but the Dolphins rendered that moot by simply letting him go.
A newly-liberated Culpepper released a statement, via email of course, in which he quoted that famous old football fan Mahatma Gandhi:
As I was going through this process I heard about a quote by Gandhi that best expresses my thoughts about this victory: “First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win…”
Actually Daunte, first you win, then you lose, then they ridicule you, and then you get cut by the Dolphins. Only at the end, once you’ve become too over-the-hill to be any good anymore, do they ignore you.
