Vikings Sign Troubled Evans

The Vikings have added depth along the defensive line by signing former Dolphins DT Fred Evans.  Mr. Evans, a seventh-round pick in 2006, is a former Dolphin right now because he got arrested twice this off-season – once for drug possession, and once for fighting with police.  Doesn’t exactly sound like one of Brad Childress’s vaunted “character guys” does he?  But apparently Chilly, Rob Brzezinski and company are convinced he’ll be fine – once his legal issues are cleared up, and he’s served his inevitable league suspension.

The signing of another DT was necessitated by the fact that, outside of Spencer Johnson, we really don’t have anything worthwhile behind Pat and Kevin WilliamsHoward Green was supposed to be our fourth tackle but he has not had an impressive camp.  Anyway, if Evans messes up again, we can always just cut him – it’s not like anyone’s counting on him to hold down a starting spot.
