LB Jason Glenn’s comeback from last November’s ACL tear has ended with his retirement. Glenn was apparently doing well at training camp until the knee started bothering him – and rather than continue fighting through it, he decided to call it quits. Said Brad Childress:
He just couldn’t get what he wanted out of his body. The knee wouldn’t let him function.
This left the Vikings with a thin linebacker corps. That problem was remedied this morning when the team signed a pair of rookies at the position – George Hall and Cameron Siskowic. To make room for one of them, RB Wendell Mathis was placed on the waived/injured list.
In other injury news…OL Adam O’Conner, who hurt his knee in practice Monday, is seeking a second opinion on it after being told he’d partially dislocated his kneecap. O’Conner is expected to miss a couple of weeks at the most.
