The Vikings began filling out their practice squad today by signing three players they previously cut – WR Larry Nance, CB Chad Johnson and DT Conrad Bolston. They wanted to add LB David Herron and QB Tyler Thigpen as well, but Thigpen was picked up by Kansas City, and Herron was snatched by Bill Belichick as apparent revenge for the Vikings claiming Patriots TE Garrett Mills despite Belichick calling Brad Childress and politely asking him not to. By the way, the Vikings cut OG Brian Daniels to make room for Mills.
A couple other Vikings cast-offs found work today as well. Dovonte Edwards, whose release angered Viking fans who thought he was better than Ronyell Whitaker, was picked up by the Giants and placed on their active roster. And the Chiefs picked up a second former Vike by adding DE Khreem Smith to their practice squad.
