Around The NFC North

Green Bay

All right, the Packers are 3-0, all legitimate wins against teams that were at least supposed to be good. We get to play these guys this weekend and frankly I’m not looking forward to it. I don’t care that Favre has his problems in the dome – this is a new-fangled Favre who doesn’t do as much crazy stuff. Plus their defense is pretty good. Not that you need a good defense to stop our offense. There are high school defenses that could probably give the Vikings a good run right about now.

Detroit

The Lions came thudding back to earth, resoundingly, against the Eagles. The terrible 56-21 blow-out really reflected poorly on the Vikings too – I mean, the Eagles run allegedly about the same offense as the Vikings, and they threw up 56 on a team we struggled to score 10 against (that other seven coming thanks to a fumble recovery). Have I made it clear yet that I think the Vikings offense is crap?

Chicago

The Bears are in deep doo-doo. Rex Grossman still hasn’t figured it out, and looks like he’s going to be benched (question: has there been another QB in history who played this poorly on a good team for this long without getting replaced?). Tommie Harris could miss a month with an injury. That defense overall doesn’t look nearly as invincible after the Cowboys rang up 34 on it. I sort of wish we were playing these guys this weekend, when they’re down, but by the time we get them they’ll probably have it turned around.

Ballhype: hype it up!
