Looney Trade Rumor

AUTHOR: danzinski | IN: Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

Must be a slow day – people are starting to get loopy.  That includes the normally sobersided Judd Zulgad, who seemingly for the hell of it threw into Access Vikings today a rumor that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking to acquire Bryant McKinnie and Chester Taylor from the Vikes.  The rumor came from this Buccaneers-related website, and seems to have been thoroughly shot-down by both the writer of said site and the commenters.

Of course, the idea of trading McKinnie or Taylor is silly at this point.  To trade McKinnie would no doubt result in some kind of horrific cap penalty to begin with, plus, despite his short-comings, he’s still the best option we have at left-tackle.  And of course, as we know, Chester Taylor is the starting running back on this team – Brad Childress declared this to be so, and employed him as such against the Pack (despite the fact that Adrian Peterson outplayed him in every possible way).  It could be argued I suppose that, if the Vikings have a surplus anywhere, it would be at running back – but Chester is not the member of that group you deal, Mewelde Moore is.  The Bucs, after the injury to Cadillac Williams, are desperate for help at that position – all the more reason to dangle a guy like Moore out there, then make the Bucs give up more than he’s worth just cause they need him so bad.  But no, there’s no way I trade Chester now – I like the idea of having both him and Adrian; I just wish Childress would be smarter in how he uses them.
