Jags Try Out Henson, Bouman

David Garrard’s ankle injury has put the Jacksonville Jaguars in a bit of a bind QB-wise, especially considering the ineptitude shown by back-up Quinn Gray during the team’s loss to Indy (Gray went 9-24 with 52 yards and 2 INTs – even Tarvaris Jackson thinks that sucks).  Looking to remedy this, the team tried out various QBs Wednesday, including former Vikings Drew Henson and Todd Bouman.  No doubt Jags assistant Mike Tice, who knows both players from his time as Viking coach, had something to do with them being brought in.  There’s no word yet on how either Drew or Todd looked, and Jacksonville has said they will wait until tomorrow to make a roster move.

It’s also been reported that the Jags contacted Drew Bledsoe, but the former Patriots and Cowboys QB, who currently stands 7th all-time in passing yards, said he’d prefer to remain retired.  Is this because Drew doesn’t want to play anymore period, or did he just not like the situation in Jacksonville, where he would almost certainly have been relegated to second-string once Garrard got healthy?  You know where I’m going with this.  Drew Bledsoe.  44,000 passing yards.  Smart guy who could probably pick up an offense pretty fast.  Not the most mobile fellow in the world but then again neither is Kelly Holcomb.  I’m just tossing it out there…
