Good news for Sunday’s big game with Oakland – both Daunte Culpepper and Antoine Winfield are expected to start.
Winfield, who’s missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, was limited in practice today, but said after the session that he will be on the field against the Raiders. Winfield told reporters:
I’ll definitely be out there. I can’t stand being on the sidelines anymore.
So that should make it a little tougher on LaMont Jordan and the Raiders’ running backs. Whether Antoine will help the pass defense is another issue altogether.
As for Daunte…he worked with the first-team in practice today, and afterward Raiders coach Lane Kiffin confirmed that the former Viking will be Oakland’s starting QB this weekend. When asked what he expects of Minnesota fans upon his return, Lord Littlehands said:
Who knows. I know the people in Minnesota love good football. I had a great time when I was up there but I’m here now. When we step in there I know it’s going to be loud and crazy. That’s what the game is about and that’s what we love about it. We get challenged like that.
Loud and crazy? With the team 3-6 and Adrian Peterson out? The only way the Dome will be loud, Daunte, is if someone cranks Denny Green’s old canned-crowd-noise tape to eleven. And the only thing crazy in that place will be, well, you.
