A second Viking has been cited for marijuana possession this year. This time it was Darrion Scott, who was nailed in his hometown of Charleston, West Virginia during some kind of drug sweep by local police. From WSAZ.com:
Lieutenant Chuck Carpenter with the Metro Drug Unit tells WSAZ that officers were on proactive drug patrol in the Orchard Manor housing project — and watched a white SUV with Minnesota plates stop and meet with a person.
Carpenter says the driver of the SUV, Darrion Scott, made contact at some point during his meeting with the other subject — but officers were unable to tell if anything had been exchanged during the contact.
The officers then followed Scott’s SUV as it left the manor, according to Carpenter. He says when Scott failed to signal during a lane change, he was pulled over.
Carpenter tells WSAZ that the officer smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from Scott’s SUV and asked Scott if officers could search his vehicle — and he refused.
Officers then brought in a drug dog and it indicated that illegal substances were in the SUV, said Carpenter, so the officers then proceeded to search the vehicle for drugs.
Carpenter says they found a small bag of marijuana (approximately 7 grams) inside a Tupperware container on the floor of the vehicle.
During the search, Carpenter says Scott was very “uncooperative” and at one point asked, “Do you know who I am?”
Scott is currently on IR, saving Brad Childress the trouble of having to make up an excuse for not suspending him before a big game the way he did when Dwight Smith got busted a couple of weeks ago.
