Playoff Predictions

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: No Comments |

I was hoping to still be writing about the Vikings come the first weekend of the playoffs, but alas, it was not to be.  Well, no big deal…I’ll just wipe the tears away and write about the teams that are in the playoffs (damn you Brad Childress and your dumb-ass offense…).

One thing I won’t stoop to though…picking an alternate team to root for the way some do.  I’m not a bandwagon jumper.  I will, however, vociferously and shamelessly talk crap about teams I hate. That means you, Cowboys, Giants and Packers. I await your impending humiliation and that of your fans with an eagerness approaching sexual anticipation.  Okay, I didn’t just say that…

Here are my picks for weekend #1:

Washington over Seattle

Jacksonville over Pittsburgh

N.Y. Giants over Tampa Bay

San Diego over Tennessee

The only one I’m sure about is the Chargers over the Titans.  I’m most shaky about the Giants pick because you never know what Eli Manning’s going to do – he could have a good game or he could get intercepted four times (his mouth will droop open like a slow-witted dog’s either way).   I’m pretty much sold on the notion that Washington is the momentum team going into these playoffs and will be able to handle a Seattle squad that’s too pass-heavy at this point.  As for Pittsburgh and Jacksonville…I think the Steelers are in trouble without Willie Parker, but Ben Roethlisberger does have a little magic to him and I can’t quite rule Pittsburgh out.
