Former Dallas assistant Tony Sparano has been hired by the Miami Dolphins to be their next head coach. This is the name everyone believed Bill Parcells had targeted all along; still the Dolphins interviewed other candidates like Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, to stay in line with the Rooney Rule. Frazier’s name is still out there for the Indianapolis Colts head job, which will become open if Tony Dungy opts to retire. Dungy has said he will mull a decision this weekend, then announce on Monday whether he will return to Indy next season.
Update: PFT says Dungy will indeed retire, and that current Colts assistant Jim Caldwell will take over. Looks like Frazier will be 0-for-2.
