Frazier Has Yet Another Suitor

Leslie Frazier lost the Dolphins job to Tony Sparano, and his candidacy for the Indianapolis job was a non-starter (since Jim Caldwell had already been tabbed to succeed Tony Dungy).  But there’s still one more team out there with a head coaching vacancy:  The Atlanta Falcons.  And sure enough, Chris Mortensen is reporting that Frazier has been interviewed by the Falcons.

I wonder if new Falcons G.M. Tom Dimitroff actually met Frazier face-to-face, or if the interview was some kind of email exchange?  Cause no one in the Falcons front office bothered actually sitting down with Dimitroff.  Hiring people sight-unseen seems a tad daffy to me, but then again, these are the Falcons.

By the way, if you’re wondering about Frazier only being brought in for Rooney Rule compliance purposes again…the Falcons already spoke to Jim Caldwell, so they didn’t need Frazier to stay in line with minority interviewing standards.  This means Frazier is a legit candidate in Atlanta, as he was not in Miami (since Bill Parcells already had his mind made up to hire Sparano).

The Falcons are a black hole waiting to suck any and everyone who comes near them into an eternity of despair if you ask me, but an NFL head job is still an NFL head job, and Frazier would certainly be fortunate to get it.
