John Clayton writes on his blog today:
The Troy Williamson trade discussions are moving quickly and a trade should be announced by Friday. At least two or three teams are staying in touch with the Vikings, who announced on Friday that Williamson has been given permission to find a trading partner. Jacksonville could be a possible destination for Williamson, but other teams like his speed.
Nothing’s official yet, but it looks like Troy Williamson’s ill-fated tenure as a Minnesota Viking is mercifully about to come to an end.
The fact that there are teams willing to trade for a bust as huge as Williamson proves again how coveted a commodity speed is. If you can run, there will always be someone willing to take a shot at trying to fix whatever else might be wrong with you.
Unfortunately for Troy and whatever team ends up taking him, I don’t think what’s wrong with Williamson is fixable. By anyone. Even Jesus. He flat out can’t play.
Update: The Vikings and Jaguars have agreed in principle to a trade that would send Troy Williamson to Jacksonville in exchange for a second-day draft pick. There Troy will be reunited with the man who drafted him, Mike Tice.
