Sorry Jaguars, but you just got sold a bum steer with the Troy Williamson deal. A sixth-round pick for a guy who’s proven himself completely worthless? Apparently Jacksonville figures they don’t need draft picks.
Well, it was only a sixth-round pick…
Tom Brady?
Derek Anderson?
Chester Taylor?
All taken in the 6th round.
Not that the Vikes will get lucky and nab a guy like that with their shiny new sixth-round pick, but I’d rather have that one extra shot than some totally useless piece of stone-handed crap clogging up my bench.
And I ain’t the only one who thinks the Vikes took the Jags for a ride on this one. Here’s what Kevin Seifert said:
Despite their public protestations, it was obvious the Vikings weren’t planning to bring Williamson back in 2008. Usually when that’s the case, interested teams decline trade overtures and wait for the inevitable release. That makes the Vikings’ salvage job all the more impressive, bringing us to two conclusions (with some help):
- There is always a market for speed.
- A sucker is born every day.
Obviously, the Jags were worried someone else might rush in and snap up their coveted piece of stone-handed crap, so they pulled the trigger on the trade rather than let him get released.
Good luck with your new “receiver” Jags. Oh, and by the way – don’t bother trying him as a kick returner. He can’t move laterally. He’s only fast straight head.
If anything the Vikings are the ones who got suckered. They drafted him 7th overall. The Jags are giving up very little for a lot of potential.
You named only 3 big names that came out of the 6th round. Tom Brady was actually a compensatory pick. How many 6th rounders actually make the final roster? He won’t even get paid unless he makes the final roster. This was a great deal for both sides. Maybe if you guys had a decent QB he might’ve actually "tried" to catch the ball. Why do you think Moss left? Don’t hate cuz the Jags are on the rise and the Vikes are…………exactly. Keep thinking purple thoughts.
