Another Defensive End Snubs the Vikings

The Vikings are having about as much luck signing a defensive end this off-season as Klinger had getting kicked out of the army. First it was Justin Smith, then Antwan Odom, then Travis LaBoy…and now Jevon Kearse has told the Vikings thanks but no thanks.

Kearse, who was cut by the Eagles earlier this off-season, has decided to return to the team he began with, the Tennessee Titans. Terms have not been disclosed, but I’m assuming the contract was laden with incentives. Kearse had been scheduled to visit the Vikings after leaving Tennessee.

This leaves Vikings fans wondering what the hell we’re going to do at defensive end. The latest name to surface is Corey Smith of the Lions. He had a total of 4 1/2 sacks the last two years in Detroit. He’s the sort of guy you sign for depth, not to start.

Hey everyone, now I’m not sure if this is true at all but I’ve found multiple sources that the Vikings are now trying solve the DE problem by sending our 1st round draft pick and Chester Taylor to the Panthers for Julius Peppers….. interesting I know.  I personally think the Panthers are getting the better deal but maybe it would have more of an impact for us, I checked his stats last year and he only had 2.5 sacks, but that may be because Jenkins is getting older and teams were better off Double or Tripple teaming Peppers.  On the other hand he is 28 now, and like Javon Kearse these speedy pass rushers don’t seem to be very indestructible, he may be passed his prime and on to a downward slide.  Any thoughts?
