Packers Will Retire Favre's Number During Opener vs. Vikings

Posted by: danzinski

The Packers want to get the fuss and muss of retiring Brett Favre’s number out of the way early, so they’ve scheduled the ceremony for the season-opening Monday night game in Lambeau against the Vikings.

Could this scheduling also have something to do with the Packers wanting a little extra emotional lift out of the gate?

Certainly, the Packers want to start fast and help Aaron Rodgers build some confidence. Plus it would be a big boost to them and Rodgers to get a big divisional win at home in the first game.  So yeah, they probably have ulterior motives for scheduling the ceremony then.  The tears will no doubt be flowing almost as freely as the booze that night.
