Vikings Offer Jared Allen Less Than Expected
A report out of Tampa says the Vikings have offered Jared Allen a six-year deal worth between $50 and $60 million with $25 million in guarantees. This is less than what everyone expected the Vikes would have to cough up to sign Allen, who is believed to be looking for something in the neighborhood of what Dwight Freeney got – 6 years, $72 million, $30 million guaranteed.
The report also says that Allen is currently back in California mulling the Vikings’ offer. There’s no word on whether Allen will still visit the Buccaneers this week as originally reported. The Bucs may be turning their attention away from Allen and toward Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard. If the Bucs drop out, then that obviously makes life easier for the Vikings both in negotiating a contract with Allen and a trade with the Chiefs.
