Daunte Culpepper Talking to Packers

Daunte Culpepper could be returning to the NFC North…as a member of the Packers.

Culpepper, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, flew into Packerland on Tuesday night and is meeting with the team today.  Daunte is an unrestricted free agent whose last team, the Raiders, have shown zero interest in re-signing him.

The plan for Green Bay would be to sign Culpepper as a back-up to Aaron Rodgers.  However, despite all the confidence everyone on the Packers is showing toward Rodgers, you have to believe they are also looking for some insurance in the event that Brett Favre’s presumptive successor should flop.  I’m not sure Daunte constitutes very good insurance at this point in his career, but there ain’t a whole lot else out there veteran-wise.   It would be a weird sort of trip to see him in a Packers jersey, I’ll say that.

Funny. No one gave a hoot when Daunte whined his way out of Minn. No one still gives a dang about blogging about him now. How the cocky have fallen.
