Vikings Draft USC’s John David Booty
We can now all look forward to years of lame booty jokes…because the Vikings have drafted USC QB John David Booty.
Mr. Booty does not possess the world’s strongest throwing arm, but he is considered a smart quarterback with good leadership skills who could fit in well in the West Coast offense. Plus, he kissed the Vikings’ asses a couple weeks ago by telling ESPN he wanted to be drafted by us.
Never underestimate the value of on-air brown-nosing.
Booty will be the third QB on the depth-chart come training camp, behind Tarvaris Jackson and Gus Frerotte. Hopefully, we won’t have to see much of Mr. Booty at all the first season. Actually, if things work out right with Jackson, we’ll never see much of Booty. But at least we have a little insurance.
Here’s some Booty-rocking video (See? I’m already doing it.):
The Vikes traded up with the Packers to take Booty. I guess that means they really wanted him.

Bravo for Booty. A pick that address’ a need and got who I think is the biggest QB sleeper in the draft. Maybe T-jax won’t feel like he has it made with a hungry pup breathing down his neck. Iv’e benn saying on previous bloogs this guy wanted to be a Viking and for no other reason that deep down he thinks he is better than Jax. He sure made throws under pressure in college that I don’t think T-jax could ever do.A DT with the other pick was kind of a - huh? Didn’t you mean O-line Chilly?
April 27th, 2008 at 3:15 pmBooty sure sounds like a West Coast type QB to me. I still hope we don’t have to throw him in there too soon. We’re not making the playoffs with a rookie QB.
April 27th, 2008 at 3:40 pmI still would have gone with Colt Brennan. The kid is a passing machine.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:17 pmI liked Colt too but after watching ESPN and seeing the films Jaws was right. Colt is a slinger and didn’t see the tougher coverages he might have in a bigger conference. Lot’s of mechanic work to be done. Booty has the mechanics just not the long ball. Tark never had the long ball but he had success. Booty is no Tark but he’ll be ready to go in faster than Brennen and leada team. Colt has lots of upsides but even the Skins say he has a lot of work to do.
April 27th, 2008 at 5:18 pmPS How did Friday go JD?
April 27th, 2008 at 8:12 pmweird. my best friend got in a car wreck and found out he was getting divorced on the same day. So I cancelled my date but happened to have dinner with my ex fiance who I’ve just begun talking to again for the first time in 2 and a half years (strictly plutonic) before I went to go hang out and console him. But it was a good weekend nonetheless.
April 28th, 2008 at 2:00 amSorry about your friend and sounds nice you and your ex fiance are friends and a shoulder to lean on. My thoughts and prayers are with your friend.I am discouraged as a wound specialist gave us a new treatment that ended up opening up what had healed. Hopefully our picks will do well and I can still look forward to the Tampa or Jax game. I am hoping Culpepper signs with GB. I coached with a guy who was Daunte’s old High school coach and he would get me free tickets. I would fly home for the Packers game if he can work it. Daunte was cool and gave me autographed stuff for my sports room
