It Just Won’t Stop…
You’re sick of Favre, I’m sick of Favre…and yet I have no choice but to blog on the latest - that the Packers called the Vikings on Friday and told them the Hall-of-Fame quarterback could be had in a trade. Favre is in Green Bay right now, ready to report for camp. The Packers say they will let him compete with Aaron Rodgers for the starting job but that Rodgers is, at the moment, their #1 QB.
What would it take for the Vikings to get Favre? The Packers have zero trade leverage right now, since Minnesota is the only place Favre would consent to go…a situation that would certainly chase away any other trade partners (no one’s going to give up a draft pick for a guy who won’t report). I’m guessing Favre could be had for a fourth-round pick right now. Not an excessive price, especially when you consider what the Vikes gave up for Jared Allen. The Packers probably wouldn’t hold out for much more, realizing the market just isn’t there (thanks to Brett all-but-eliminating every other team), and given how anxious they are to be done with the whole affair.
I’d do another odds board but my odds boards are always way off. Plus no one involved in the story seems to be behaving rationally, and that makes it hard to guess.

Come on! Farve will never be a Viking. He,s not a Viking. He can,t be a Viking. FT came out of NYG after being a Viking. He was able to lead the team.
August 4th, 2008 at 2:54 pmDon’t ever think that some old worn out player from another team, will ever led the Vikes to anything. Think about it. For the QB, It’s not about who I am. It’s about who we are. Got it!
how is he worn out? yeah he’s up there in age but that has never showed when he’s playing on the field….
August 4th, 2008 at 3:48 pmI don’t know what to think anymore. I don’t know if I want him or don’t want him. I’m confused and lost.
August 4th, 2008 at 4:00 pmIf we ended up getting him right now I would be happy, that would give him enough time to learn the offense and Start week 1, but who knows what’s going to happen.
August 4th, 2008 at 5:58 pmthis talk about GB talking to MIN about farve is fairytales and a puff cloud of bullshit. your boys said there has been NO contact, and the milwaukee journal reports that talks have been intiated????? i think GB just made that shit up to make it look like their trying to do something and they ain’t, and don’t know what the hell to do. all i know is one thing i’ve read that’s interesting: once farve is re-instated and is back on the packers roster, he can’t veto a trade unless it’s written in his contract. this may have been a move by GB to get him re-inststed so they can get a deal done with maybe the jets or tampa who were interested before, but farve seemed to turn down any efforts to complete. with him officially on their squad as a player, they can now openly seek trades that benifit GB, not farve. thats why they said “we’ll turn this into something that will benifit the packer organization” ……thats what i’m readin here
August 4th, 2008 at 11:37 pmJoe Montana made the ProBowl with Kansas City in ‘93 at the age of 37. This was after playing one game with SF in ‘92. Brett had a career year in ‘07 and was second in MVP voting. Don’t be so quick to write him off! I’m a lifelong Packer fan but will be following two teams next year if he ends up with the Vikings. The hardest part for you guys will be learning to spell Favre…..
August 5th, 2008 at 12:31 amThe problem isn’t Favre vetoing a trade per some clause in his contract…it’s him getting traded to a team he doesn’t want to play for and just retiring again. No team wants to give up a draft pick and then have him not show.
August 5th, 2008 at 4:22 amwhat the hell is Joe Senser talking about???
August 5th, 2008 at 4:52 am… anyone see him on wcco with Rosen… the clip is on wcco… ahh? what does he know? if anything?
i worked for him back in 91′ at his bar and lets say i was not impressed… but he’s saying lots of stuff wonder if any of it’s true? hmm?
but Goodell did just come out with the Vikings did not tamper ruling possibly opening the door for a trade… man who would not love to be a fly on the wall in that meeting between BF and MM…
His Bar off of 494 and France? Yeah, warm beer and cold wings, waitresses are dumber than shit. I really hope that shit hole shuts down soon.
August 5th, 2008 at 5:17 amSenser’s half-right…Favre is done as a Packer.
