Tight end Marcus Pollard has been cut by the New England Patriots. The 36-year-old Pollard was a semi-important contributor to the AFC Champs last year, catching 28 balls for 273 yards and 2 TDs (superstar stats compared to the Vikings‘ tight ends), but it’s generally agreed that his best years (most of which were spent with the Colts) are far behind him. He seems like another Joe Horn sort of proposition – a guy you would bring in and kick the tires on without having great enthusiasm for what he might be able to contribute. Pollard seems slightly more attractive than Horn only because our tight end situation is so dire. Visanthe Shiancoe has impressed no one this off-season and Garrett Mills continues to limp around on a bad foot and ankle.
