The Jacksonville Jaguars have opened up a home for failed Mike Tice draft picks. All off-season the Jags have been trying to nurse 2005 no. 7 overall selection Troy Williamson into something worthwhile, and now they’ve signed former Viking would-be short-yardage back Ciatrick Fason, who was taken in the 4th round of that same 2005 draft. Fason’s career numbers with the Vikes: 50 rushes, 161 yards, 5 TDs. Really? 5 TDs? I didn’t realize he had that many. All I remember about Fason’s Purple career was him going into the line and getting pushed back despite the fact that he was supposed to be a power back. I’m not sure what plans Tice and the Jags have for Ciatrick. Maybe they picked him up to be friends with Troy – you know, help bolster his confidence.
The Jags also cut former Viking Chris Liwienski, whom they signed as a free agent at the end of July. Dennis Green no longer has a coaching gig so I doubt we’ll be seeing Liwienski on anyone’s roster.
