Starting to Worry…

Peter King has placed 5 Vikings (via Access Vikings) in his list of the 50 best players in the NFL.  Adrian Peterson is #5, Jared Allen #9, Kevin Williams #13, Steve Hutchinson #17 and Antoine Winfield #25.  What, no Big Pat?  Those other defensive guys are great but isn’t Pat really the lynch pin?  Actually, I’m glad Pat didn’t make this list – 5 guys is scary, but 6 would’ve been downright terrifying.  Sorry, but all this praise just makes me jittery.  I’m not used to the Vikings being talked up in the preseason like this.  I think I’d prefer their being dismissed they way they were before 1998 when they put up one of the great offensive seasons of all-time.  It’s better to sneak up on people.  Hype breeds over-confidence.  Hopefully this team, which is pretty veteran in a lot of key places, won’t buy into it.  And hopefully, by the end of the season, they’ll have proven themselves worthy.
