How long will the Vikings‘ top-flight defense tolerate being saddled with an offense that isn’t giving them any help? Not very long. In fact, there are already signs of dissension – like this remark from Jared Allen during a post-game interview with KFAN’s Greg Coleman:
This game sucks man. This one sticks with you because…it’s the type of game that you feel when you look up at the scoreboard you think it’s gonna be 28-3, 28-7…I mean, you dominated them.
It might’ve been 28-3 after the way the Vikings’ defense throttled Peyton Manning and the Colts in the first half – but the offense couldn’t finish off drives and had to settle for field goals. That 15-0 halftime lead proved eminently surmountable. Allen’s little dig at the offense is a sign of the unpleasantness to come if things don’t get shored up on that side of the football.
