The Viking Age on MVN Outsider
MVN Outsider asked me to participate in a discussion about coaches who find themselves on the hot-seat, including our own Brad Childress. Here’s what I said about the subject:
I wouldn’t expect to see another coach get axed during the season. Brad Childress is up against it in Minnesota but I think the Vikes will play well enough to lower the heat on him, plus I don’t believe Zygi Wilf would pull the trigger before the end of the season anyway (unless they were, like, 2-12 and he just decided to get it over with). It’s hard to can a coach in-season unless you have a guy on your staff who’s been a head coach in the past who can step in (as with the Rams). The Raiders are the exception of course because, well, it’s Al Davis - there are no rules with that guy.
Of course, if the Vikings get bombed by New Orleans…
But no, seriously, I don’t believe Wilf would can Childress before the end of the season. Darrell Bevell might be offered up as a sacrifice, but that’s about the extent of it.
