Childress Has a Death Wish

I don’t think Brad Childress understands the fine art of public relations. If he did, he wouldn’t say things like this while trying to defend himself against all the heat coming down on him from the fans:

[On the fact it’s normal for coaches to be the focus of frustration from the fan base but it takes the next step when “Fire Childress” chants are heard throughout the stadium.]

It’s driven somehow or other. Whether it’s early on here [in his tenure] or early success, but that’s [the fans'] prerogative again. [They’re] becoming more like Philadelphia fans I suppose. A little bit more mean-spirited. But, like I said, I don’t ever hear the boos or the [cheers]. I know when the crowd is loud, obviously, because it impact us or it impacts the other team. But I’m always worried about the bottom line.

Yes, Childress just compared Vikings fans to Eagles fans - the biggest bozo fans in the entire league (except possibly Raiders fans).  Oh yeah, that’s gonna get them to stop chanting “Fire Childress.”  Does this guy just not get it?  At all?  Apparently not.

Thankfully, Chilly still seems to have the players on his side.  As Jared Allen said after yesterdays’ game:

Chilly is my guy. Chill out, people. We have a lot of season left. Just chill out.

Or maybe Jared is just trying to spread around some happy-talk.  At least he didn’t compare the Purple faithful to disgusting Santa Claus-booing Philly fans.  He knows better than that.

Eagles fans are the best in the country.

You may think that Ian, but sports fans around the country consider them bad fans and when a coach compares you to them, it’s liable to get a negative response (and yes I concede it’s probably unfair that Eagles fans have that reputation but that’s just how it is).
