R.I.P. Charles Evans
Former Vikings fullback Charles Evans died Sunday of heart failure at the age of 41. Evans played six years for the Purple, his last being the glorious 1998 season, when he was a solid contributor on an offense that set the then-record for most points scored in a season. He spent the next two years of his career in Baltimore before retiring after the 2000 season. He was living in Maryland at the time of his death.

You were a great person and will be missed by many especially your beautiful wife and daughter Clark. Your friends in Minneapolis!

October 17th, 2008 at 6:03 pmMy name is Patrick Powell. I went to high school with Charles and played the same position in a later class. Boo as he was affectionately known was an accomplished barber who used to earn money cutting our heads in his room and in the locker room when we were young. I was years younger but always looked up to him. Boo was a gentle giant who inspired me with his style of play and cuts as I later became a barber. Boo was well liked by many. He will be truly missed!
October 17th, 2008 at 7:00 pmThank you for all the wonderful comments about my son, my Boo Boo.
October 31st, 2008 at 7:49 pmIt is confusing as to why a young strong man dies of heart failure, I did have an autopsy done the ME says all his organs were good spleen, liver. there were no drugs found, he had an enlarged heart. I understand most athletes do . I believe my sons demise is the result of an absess I received paperwork showing he was having problems with an absessed tooth. the day before he died. I told him recently to please go get that tooth taken care of, he was going to have it done on the19th.
Let me be forthcoming with all who knew and loved Charles for the person he was. Charles had 2 daughters one with his wife 14years old , his firstborn he had while in college she is now 17.
my son was incarcerated in Cobb county Ga he was picked up and returned to Ga due to what they thought was non payment of child support , for the 17 yr old ,My son was paying in Md I have all receipts showing he was paying, Md child support system did not inform Cobb county child support, therefore as far they were concerned he was not paying. he showed the courts receipts proving he was paying, after clearing that up, they found a child abandonement charge that was filed in 2002 by his daughters mother, he paided this young lady 3000 per month for 5 years after he was no longer in the NFL he had to adjust payments. his daughter would spend time with him he picked her up took her to Md to spend time with him she was with us all the time my point is child abandonement was unfounded.
my son is dead, I am so hurt I will always hurt, I was told it gets better with time.
My Son was so special you could not get him to gossip if anyone spoke against another he would say,” oh yeah”, that is the most you would get out of him . I think it was cool that he did not talk harsh about another, when I share somethings with charles his feedback was profound with few words.I will truly miss his words of wisdom. on the other hand.he internalized his problems, to all of you if you have things that bothers you please talk about it. I have 3 other wonderful children, we all feel the same about Charles . we loved and love him dearly. we will miss him.
With love MOM
