Rice In; Herron Out

Sidney Rice has declared himself ready to play Sunday against the Bears.  “I was close [the last few weeks] but it was coach’s decision, him deciding on what he really needed out there,” Rice said.  The receiver has missed three of four games with a sprained knee, meaning he’s had zero chance to develop rapport with Gus Frerotte.  It will be interesting to see what Gus is able to do with both Rice and Bernard Berrian on the field.

Meanwhile…linebacker David Herron is out with a hip injury.  Herron had been playing the middle in place of E.J. Henderson – now Brad Childress will have to select a new starting MLB from a crop including Dontarrious Thomas, Napoleon Harris, Vinny Ciurciu and starting OLB Ben Leber.  I wouldn’t mind seeing Leber get a chance at playing the middle myself.
