Jared Allen is being called a cheap-shot artist after going low on Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the first half Sunday and injuring Schaub’s knee. Texans coach Gary Kubiak was asked about the whole thing on his radio show and this is what he said:
Obviously it’s illegal to go low on the quarterback and we have three plays that we’re going to turn into the league and we’ll wait to hear back. But he definitely was down there low and Matt took some tough shots.
Kubiak’s wrath likely became greater after he learned that Schaub suffered an injury to his MCL and could miss a month. Watch video of one of the controversial hits and judge for yourself:
Schaub leaving the game almost turned into a good break for the Texans, because Sage Rosenfels came in for the second half and put up over 200 yards, mostly to Owen Daniels who made a home in the Grand Canyon-sized holes in the Vikings’ zones. And Jared Allen himself didn’t escape the game unscathed – he suffered a sprained shoulder and may be out for this weekend’s big match-up with the Packers.
