Visanthe Shiancoe‘s unintentional (we assume) peen-flash on Fox certainly made for a lot of buzz, as I can personally attest by the incredible traffic spike I’ve seen here the last couple of days. Of course, Visanthe’s agent did the prudent thing by saying his player was “embarrassed” over the whole thing. Meanwhile, Visanthe himself seemed to be basking in his new-found, ill-gotten glory, as evidenced by this piece from Star-Tribune lifestyle columnist C.J., who ran into Shiancoe at a party. I quote:
“How’d it look?” Visanthe Shiancoe wanted to know.
When you retell this story — and you will — please remember that the Vikings tight end ASKED me that question. I did not walk over to Shiancoe at saftey Darren Sharper‘s party at Trocaderos early today and leeringly aver: Hey, Visanthe, I’d ask how it’s hanging, but I already know the answer is greeeeeaatt!
Fox has apologized for a camera crew taping Vikings owner Zygi Wilf‘s post Detroit victory ball ceremony, inadvertently catching a glimpse of Shiancoe adjusting his towel and momentarily revealing more of the tight end’s anatomy than expected.
“Oh, they apologized? I heard about that. I got a lot of calls about that,” Shiancoe told me.
He doesn’t sound too embarrassed. And why should he? He didn’t do anything. The Fox people were completely at fault. And the NFL for allowing cameras in the locker room in the first place. Maybe this will teach everyone a nice lesson about keeping private places private. And privates private.
