Leslie Frazier was believed by some to be the front-runner in the Rams‘ coaching search, but those some were wrong, for today we learned that St. Louis has chosen Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo to take over head coaching duties. The hire leaves two head coaching vacancies in the NFL, Oakland and the New York Jets (with the Buccaneers already tapping Raheem Morris to take over for the fired Jon Gruden). Of course, other positions could still come open: The Chiefs may can Herm Edwards and you can never tell what will happen in Dallas. It seems a long-shot that Frazier would be considered for either of those jobs though, and he is absolutely not up for the Raiders or Jets jobs. This means that, as of now, there is a 99% chance that Leslie Frazier will be defensive coordinator for the Vikings in 2009. How Brad Childress feels about this in his secret heart, only he and Mike Florio know for sure.
