Cardinals Find a Way Against Eagles Defense

The Vikings lost in their first-round game against the Eagles mostly because they couldn’t get any offense going against Jim Johnson and his defense.  And in case anyone thought that performance against the Vikes was a fluke, Philly went out the next weekend and stymied Eli Manning and the Giants.  It might’ve seemed, at that point, that the Eagles had an unbeatable D…and then Philly rolled into Arizona to face the Cardinals.  At last, a team found the magic formula:  Turns out all you need is a Hall-of-Fame quarterback with two Super Bowl appearances to his name and a wide receiver who is fast developing a reputation as a big game player.  If only the Vikings had Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald

Well, no use dreaming – the Cardinals have those guys and we don’t.  Of course, the Vikes can hold their heads high and be proud that they beat the living hell out of Arizona during the regular season, bludgeoning Warner and holding Fitzgerald to only 52 yards.  Maybe the Eagles should’ve studied the way our defense played against those guys, then perhaps they wouldn’t have surrendered 3 TD passes to Warner, all going to Fitzgerald who by the way also racked up 152 yards.  It’s been an amazing last month+ for Arizona who, after we beat them and then New England really pounded the tar out of them, seemed destined for an early playoff exit, but miraculously turned their fortunes around.  Arizona will now make the first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.
