The Arizona Cardinals will face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII (which I believe is 43 in human numbers). This is the old contrasting styles bit I guess: The punishing defensive team vs. the high-flying offense. The key match-up would seem to be the Pittsburgh secondary, headlined by Troy Polamalu, against Larry Fitzgerald, who tore up everyone in the playoffs. The quarterbacks have both been here before: Kurt Warner, twice with the Rams, and Ben Roethlisberger once before with Pittsburgh. Both have a Super Bowl ring. The coaching showdown is between two rising stars: Ken Whisenhunt, former Steelers coordinator, and Mike Tomlin, former Vikings D-coordinator (unforgettably, for those who wish we’d kept him and dumped Chilly). The most intriguing chess match will probably be between Cardinals offensive mastermind Todd Haley and the old defensive wizard Dick LeBeau. My only predictions? Larry Fitzgerald will be a huge national star before the next two weeks are over. And we’ll all be sick of the endless, largely braindead coverage.
