I doubt many Vikings fans would cry if special teams coach Paul Ferraro were to end up being hired by the St. Louis Rams, who have reportedly requested permission to speak with him. It was, to say the least, not a good year for Ferraro’s unit: They surrendered seven touchdowns this season, an NFL record, and you can’t attribute all of that to the loss of Heath Farwell who blew out his knee in camp. There were times this year when fans seemed even angrier at Ferraro than they were at Brad Childress – no mean feat when you consider how much people hate Childress. It makes you wonder why the Rams would even want him. Well, as it turns out, Ferraro played football with new Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo in college and the two have remained close. The Vikings could still deny Ferraro permission to interview with St. Louis but, honestly, I can’t see why they would, outside of some misplaced sense of loyalty on Chilly’s part. I say let the Rams have him if they like him so much.
