It looks almost 100% certain that you can cross Kurt Warner off the list of potential future Vikings starting quarterbacks. The Cardinals and Warner are rumored to be discussing a two-year contract worth between $18 and $20 million, and Warner has been adamant, in the hours since the team coughed up the Super Bowl to the Steelers, that he will play for Arizona in 2009 or he will go back to bagging groceries. This does, of course, open up a second, possibly intriguing line of speculation: What happens to Matt Leinart and would the Vikings make a run at him if he became available? Personally, I’m about as low on Leinart as you can be: This dude had every chance to snatch the starting job away from Warner, with the same great receivers at his disposal, and couldn’t do it. Plus he seems to suffer from Reggie Bush syndrome – this thing USC stars have about acting like Big Man on Campus even after they’ve left college. Maybe, if Leinart showed that he’d matured and given up the beer bong, I’d consider it. As it stands, there are about 25 guys I’d take before Leinart, including Daunte Culpepper, Jeff George and Brad Johnson.
