Zygi Slams the Door on Favre

You can officially forget about harboring any last secret hopes that Brett Favre might reconsider his retirement and join the Vikings.  Sure, Favre may still unretire, but if he does, the Vikings will not be interested in acquiring his services.  And this is coming straight from the top.  Zygi Wilf himself has slammed the door once and for all on any Favre speculation.  Wilf is quoted by Sid Hartman:

I would have been interested [in Favre] 15 years ago.  No, I’m not interested. No way. I think he’s done well, he retired, it’s good. He’s a great guy. I’m just happy that we don’t have to keep on facing him.

I don’t know how much more definitive Zygi could be.  He doesn’t want Favre.  He thinks Favre is done.  Even if Favre begged him on his knees…well, I don’t know what would happen then.  Maybe Zygi responds to that kind of thing.  Maybe if Favre agreed to wash Zygi’s car every week for a year or something.  Who knows?

Brett Farve had a hall of fame career with the Green Bay Packers, and he should’ve left it at that. Instead, he tried to be a punched-out boxing champion, trying to prove he still had it. Well at first, Farve looked good for the Jets, but when the playoffs were on the line, he failed miserably. The long season and injuries caught up with him, and like the old boxing champion who fails, Favre , the football great, was now relegated to has-been status, and booed out of New York. As a longtime Vikings fan, i respected Favre for his great playing career in Green Bay, but it was a big mistake for him to comeback. As for Zygi’s decision not to consider Favre for the Vikes QB job, it was the right one .
