Rosenfels is just a backup unless the Vikings can't find a real starter. Sage was needed because Frerotte demanded to start and was unqualified. T-Jack and Booty need more development. The Rosenfels acquisition means the Vikings won't be pursuing those that were available now like Garcia, Derek Anderson and Cassel (especially at the high price). But it doesn't eliminate some other potential starters who could become available later, like Warner, McNabb, Hasselbeck or my favorite and the Viking of destiny - Favre.

Sage for a 4th is a good deal.
Almost no QB's make it throug the schedule unscathed. I say drop Booty in camp though and draft a 3 rd stinger with an arm in the late rounds. Buy an OT and draft best avail for 1st round and 2nd either a center or defensive player..same for the 3rd. One of which should be DT. I'm hoping Maclin is there in the first to return kicks and run after the catch...whoever throws it. Go vikes!

Im not happy about it, but being a Viking fan and living in Houston, ive gotten to see plenty of Sage the past 2 years. He is def better than Tjax and as long as our Oline can protect him he knows how to get the ball downfield or to the tight end. I think this is a band aid fix that will allow Childress to keep his job after next season. But hell lets be optimistic, It doesnt take an All Star QB to win the Superbowl

The more I read about Sage, the better i feel about the trade. Of course we all hope he performs better than he did with the Texans as far as this completion to interception ratio goes. It will probably run in a lot of fans minds, especially if he starts out poorly. I just have this gut feeling that Rosenfels can fit in with our offense pretty well. I still think we'll need that second WR and utilize the TE more, not to mention better play-calling, coaching, etc. As fans, it's important to give the guy a fair shot, plain and simple, then hope we can make the playoffs again before any Super bowl aspirations are met. We have to be realistic about it also, because were not getting Tom Brady here, but we may not need a superstar like Brady to win big games.

I guess it could go either way. His td to interseption situation bothers me. Our bad coaching (does anybody agree with me) bothers me, so im certainly not jumping for joy. I have no choice but to give Sage a chance, but to say im apprehesive is an understatement.
