T.J. Houshmandazadeh is by far the top receiver available in free agency. It’s unknown right now whether the Vikings are targeting him, but T.J. has let it be known that he is certainly targeting the Vikes. Appearing on ESPN, the soon-to-be-former Bengals stand-out said:
I’m looking at teams I think have good coaches and good offensive lines and good running games. I have no idea if those teams are interested in me. If I can play with Adrian Peterson, can you imagine what I would do getting one-on-one coverage with Adrian Peterson? I am going to win 98.6 percent of the time with one-on-one coverage with him in the backfield.
T.J. got out his adding machine and calculated that he would win precisely 98.6 percent of the time with AD in the backfield. Well, sounds to me like we should sign him up. Wait though…he said he was looking at teams with good coaches. Maybe he meant he wanted Adrian to get traded to whatever team he signs with?
Obviously, it would be a great coup for the Vikes to swoop in and sign Houshmandzadeh after never really being seriously mentioned in connection with him. Seems to me, if a guy of that caliber is interested in you, it behooves you to at least make contact with him and see what there is to see. Understanding that, if the bidding gets ridiculous for the guy, you can always gracefully bow out and continue on with what you have.
