Houshmandzadeh to Seahawks Looks Imminent

It appears the Vikings have lost out on T.J. Houshmandzadeh.  The bad indications began with this morning’s news that the wide receiver hadn’t spent the night in Minneapolis as previously believed but had instead boarded a flight to L.A. Sunday evening.  Now comes word that T.J. has turned down an offer from the Bengals that would’ve paid him over $35 million for 5 years…meaning some team out there has a very large deal on the table, something on the order of 4 years at up to $10 million-per.  And that team is believed to be the Seahawks.  So, if the Vikings want to land T.J., it looks like they’ll have to at least offer $40 million for 4 years.  To a guy who will be 32 in September.  I don’t know if it’s worth it.

So, it looks like the Vikings will have to turn to plan B if they want to upgrade at receiver.  Torry Holt anyone?

I wouldn’t mind Torry Holt. A lot better than T.J.

  • Ryan

Good riddance T.J. better that money is spent elsewhere

  • jeege

Ok, how has this site not LIT UP yet at the thought of Cutler to MN???

    Come on people!

  • jeege

That would change our entire franchise! Let alone the upcoming season!

  • Mike

Cutler would certainly be much better than what we have.

  • Ryan

I would love to have Cutler, but for what?

  • http://stripehype.com David

Actually, the report that TJ rejected the Bengals deal is not true. It’s believed to be the best offer he’s got. The ‘Hawks deal is supposedly in between the Vikes (which was the lowest) and the Bengals’. All that said I will still be surprised if he ends up back in Cincinnati.

Holt is a lot better than T.J.?  Are you crazy?  Holt looks old…plus he got into a sideline spat with Chilly a couple of years ago.  He’d never come here…and I would rather have Housh!

  • Mike

Roto wire is reporting that the Broncos won’t trade Cutler to the Vikings because they can’t offer them a QB they want.  Tell me about it!

  • Ryan

Jeege, there is no chance the Bronco’s trade him, we would have to give up a 1st round, 2nd round and Chester Taylor most likely to get him.

  • Schmidtty

Would it be stupid to offer our 1st, 2nd and Chester (who only has a year left on his contract anyways)?  I might be okay with doing that, I say try to get that done quickly as it may sway TJ into loving our “low ball” offer.

  • Schmidtty

There will still be adequate spot relief backs out there via agency to replace Chester if we were to include him in the trade.  Obviously we missed out on Buckhalter and D. Ward may be too much money or want a starting gig, but there is still J.J. Arrington, Kevin Jones…
