Vikings Could Trade Up for Mark Sanchez?

Free agency has been a non-starter for the Vikings, so it’s time to turn our attention to the draft.  The Vikes will be picking #22 overall, which means they will likely be out of the running for a big name quarterback…unless they were to trade up.  Today in a chat Q&A, ESPN’s Kevin Seifert addressed this possibility, and specifically, whether USC‘s Mark Sanchez might make a worthy target:

Chris (Mn): Would the Vikings consider moving up if Sanchez starts to fall past pick #10?

Kevin Seifert: Not totally out of the question. Last year, the Vikings cited the USC offense as one of the main reasons they drafted John David Booty. Sanchez is more talented and played in the same offense.

Sanchez also had a disappointing combine – which is why there’s talk of him slipping out of the top 10.  I still think right tackle should be the #1 concern, but if Sanchez dropped far enough…maybe it would be worth making a run at him.

Im telling yall right now:   JOSH FREEMAN thats where its at

  • jeege

I’ve been saying that shit for weeks now! I totally agree! And we probably wouldnt have to trade up for him.

Hello…we NEED a QB. We have 2 backups battling for the starting  position. The QB is arguably the most important position on offense yet we continue to make due with second stringers….whats wrong with this picture????

draft a te….brandon pettugew from oklahoma st. then danzinski will have a te he can love up to just like us guys with jason witten……….hahahaha, but seriously he would’nt be a bad pick where you guys are?

Play the season out with Sage and trade up next season to get Sam Bradford

  • All Day 28

Draft bpa by position of need at # 22 , i know for a fact that we can get Rhett Bohmar in the 2nd round. Im sure alot of you know about his miscue’s at Oklahoma, but he is a prime time QB. The guy is that good. He went to Sam Houston State which is about 30 mins from where I live, I watched plenty of his college games there. He has all the tools of a NFL QB

THE VIKES WILL ATTEMPT TO GET CUTLER BEFORE THE DRAFT THEY WILL SEND NEXT YEAR 1ST ROUNDER 5TH ROUNDER AND SAGE OR T-JACK TO THE BRONCOS CUTLER WILL BE A VIKE BY MARCH 20 IF NOT THE TRY AND DRAFT A HIGH RECIEVER LIKE CRABTREE AND A # 1 CORNER EXPECT THE VIKNGS TO SHOCK THE LEAGUE VIKE REACH SUPERBOWL WITH EITHER CUTLER OR T-JACK VIKES ARE THE TEAM TO BEAT TALKS ABOUT HOW GOOD THE VIKES WILL BE WILL BE KNOW SURPISE TO ME

  • TRUEVIKESFAN

FRAZIER HEAD COACH 201O VIKES WILL GO TO THE SUPERBOWL

  • http://landryhat davedallasfan

yeah, i see that with cutler the vikings could be the team to beat? but with t-jack? yeah they’ll be the team to beat allright, and often. the t-jack experiment is over, as the signing of rosenfels would lead to believe. look at your offer; if you were denver would you trade cutler for next years 1st, next years 5th, sage or t-jack????? if i’m denver, and minnesota will be as good as you say this year, i’m looking at a late 1st rounder at best. come on, get real……..it may take your first this year and maybe your first next year as well??????? what would you do if the vikes had cutler and denver wanted him?????

  • Dennis

Ok. The only thing right now that keeps me hoping that the vikings lack of free agency is that hopefully they will be making a play at either Cutler of Palmer. Heck at this point I will even take Anderson or Leinhert over what we currently have. If Cutler does not show up for camp on monday look for the rumormill to heat up. If this is the case the Vikings should give the broncos a blank check and tell them to fill in who and what they want. The roster is aging and AP with the way he runs might only have 6 good years left. It would be unfair to him and the many veterans on the team to not get a top flight QB and make a run at this thing for the next few years.

Heres what I propose for Cutler.

T-Jack, This years and Next years first round. It’s time to roll the dice. If it does not work you have alot of aging veterans you could sell off cheap for draft picks in the next few years. But get Cutler and give it two years .

Some recent mock drafts have shown Sanchez falling out of the first round.

  • http://landryhat davedallasfan

there. now dennis makes 100% sense of the whole thing. if you don’t get cutler what the hell good would the 2 first rounders be anyway? its a 50/50 crapshoot that they pan out to be starters and you already know what cutler can do. so a 1st this year=18th? and bag cutler, your pick next year could be 29,30,31 0r 32??? yeah it would be worth it. dennis is right

  • Mike

Dennis makes little sense from Denver’s point of view.  Who in their right mind would want T-Joke?  If Denver trades Cutler it will be to a team that can offer a decent QB in return.
