Torry Holt Has Been Cut

AUTHOR: danzinski | IN: Breaking News | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Torry Holt asked the Rams last week to be released, and now the team has granted the veteran wide out’s request, sending him packing the same way they just did former Pro Bowl left tackle Orlando Pace.  Holt immediately becomes the most attractive receiver left on the market, unless you have a huge jones for Bobby Engram.  The points against him:  Age (32 – still younger than T.O. though); speed (not what it used to be); questions about whether he would make a good over-the-middle complementary-type receiver; bad knee.  A number of teams are believed to be interested in Holt, including the Titans, 49ers and Giants.  It’s possible one of those teams would be willing to pay him #1 money – and that’s something the Vikings clearly would and should not do.

  1. Mike says:

I prefer more of a possession WR like Bobby Engram, but Holt might be OK.

  2. Mike says:

Holt must be good.  Vikings are saying they are not interested.

  3. Mike, Holt was a great receiver for years, in fact he tore up the Vikings defense when Warner was QB for the Rams, they passed all over us with all those WR’s they had, we did’nt know what hit us. Anyways, I get your point, anyone that seems to be a good free agent, the Vikes turn their backs on, or never offer the right amount of money. Holt has lost some speed, but still has talent, and could help Sidney Rice progress, if we were even interested.
