Glenn Holt is a Viking. Torry Holt Still is Not.

The Vikings have signed former Bengals receiver/return man Glenn Holt.  Last year, Holt returned 46 kicks, averaging 24.1 yards.  In three years Holt has a 24.3 yards-per-return average with one touchdown.  Note that I am focusing on the return aspect of his game…this is because the receiver end of it isn’t worth even mentioning.  The guy who really might help the Vikings receiving corps, that other Holt, remains on the market.

Glenn Holt joins Karl Paymah as the only new players signed by the Vikings this off-season.  In other news, Jay Cutler wants to be traded by the Broncos!  Let’s git ‘im!

O.K., every team needs a  kick returner, but we really needed the other Holt more. I doubt Glenn Holt will be another Anthony Carter, who could pretty much do everything the Vikings asked of him several years ago. It is an added demension to our team, but if Glenn could bring his kick return average to 30 or more yards per return, then were talking good field position, hopefully following field goals, and not touchdowns by the opposition. Now, if he can return punts for good average, or break a few like A.C. use to do, that would really make the Vikings exciting to watch, but please try hard to deal for Cutler, we need the big-armed QB.
