Hakeem Nicks is Fat as Well as Stupid

It hasn’t been a great couple of days for Hakeem Nicks, the North Carolina wide receiver some see as a target for the Vikings with their 22nd overall pick.  First it came out that Hakeem had scored a rather embarrassing 11 on the Wonderlic…and now scouts are said to be disappointed in the direction Hakeem’s fitness went after he tweaked a hammy at the combine.  Okay, let’s not mince words:  dude got fat.  Scouts giving him the once-over at North Carolina Pro Day discovered he’d gained 14 pounds in just a few weeks (some reports have it as high as 16).  Said one bemused scout:

He looked like a fat tight end not a lean receiver. . . .  He’s got to have a weight problem.  This is the most important few months of his life and he gains a ton of weight.  I don’t get it.  Many scouts and coaches went away very disappointed.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve now learned as much as I ever need to know about Hakeem Nicks.  I really hope the Vikings do not draft this guy.  I hope they cross him off their draft board, shred every piece of paper they have on him and burn all their tape of him.  This guy’s throwing up more red flags than the testers at a red flag factory.

Here we go again.  Another Troy Williamson type first round draft bust.  I hope the Vikings can just use the first pick in the draft to get some big lug offensive right tackle, which they need more anyways.  The Vikings should get a proven WR from free agency – maybe Holt, now that they let the great possession WR Bobby Engram slip through their cheap fingers.

Not to bemoan the fact, but sources have also said that he’s already lost a good amount of the weight that he had gained.  Not that I suggest the Vikings draft him, but I wouldn’t base my opinion on that fact alone.

The Chiefs can have Bobby Engram. Holt is excellent in the dome. He may not be what he once was, but look what he’s had to deal with over there in St louie. We need to pursue him…AND FAST!

Has anyone heard any rumors about Braylon Edwards being available??? Yahoo Sports has a article on it…

  • Mike

The Giants talked to the Browns about trading for Edwards but the Vikings are unlikely to offer much for a WR (especially a WR that led the lead last year in dropped balls).  Free agency is more likely than a trade when it comes to WR, especially since the Vikings have said they may have to trade for a high level right tackle.

Your right, He did drop alot of ball, Watched a couple of Browns games… Monday night against the Giants, Think he had a fairly good game against them, He wasn’t consistent though.
