Tahi Stays

The Vikings say they will match the $1.4  million/1-year offer sheet signed by restricted free agent Naufahu Tahi with the Bengals last week.  The Vikes may originally have hoped to sign Leonard Weaver to replace Tahi at fullback, but Weaver ended up signing with the Eagles, leaving the Vikings with no option but to bring Tahi back.  So, the Vikings fail to upgrade at fullback, the same way they’ve failed to upgrade at receiver, right tackle, center and cornerback this off-season.  They must think they have a pretty solid roster.

    My patience is waning.

And I’m a very patient fan. So for those Vikings fans who hate the Vikings…this must be infuriating.

Of course, those people are always furious. So who really cares what they think anyway? Point is, I’m patient and even I’m scratching my head at this off-season.

This better be one hell of a draft.

I guess Jay Cutler will be the next player to look for the next available option, after he hears that the Vikings are interested, or were we even interested in a deal? All these talented free agents that the organization supposedly had talks with, just so happen to pull a 180 on us, each and every time. It makes even the most loyal and patient Vikings fans wonder if all these stories about deals and so on, are true or false. I do know one thing for sure, it aint easy being a Vikings fan these days, how about some answers, coach?

The Vikings should have got a better fullback than Tahi in free agency and should now look to the middle rounds of the draft.  The early rounds of the draft should be used to get the best offensive lineman, especially right tackle, maybe Britton.  The real problems are at QB and WR since these positions can not be met quickly in the draft.  They need to add to the roster a proven QB – maybe Cutler, Favre or George.  Hopefully, Sidney Rice can be the possession WR, but they should pick up an older vet to fill in in case he doesn’t develop, maybe Holt.  The defenseincluding cornerback is good enough especially with the vital needs on offense needed to free AP from smashing into 8 and 9 man fronts.

if cutler is dealt, it will probably be a draft day trade at this point? this is why maybe minny is staying put on free agency. if they can knock that big trade down, they’ll need draft picks to do it, and then they’ll have to address some positions with the picks they have left. then after the draft some of these position free agents will start to get snapped up. but you will need to see how much cap space you’ll have to sign free agents depending upon weather or not you have to sign a first round pick or a second and so on. if you trade that first rounder away you free up money to negotiate with free agents, but cutler will demand a new contract first. the one he has with denver now is pitiful for a starter at qb. maybe this is why he’s pushing for a trade that bad, is an excuse to renegotiate that contract??? knowing he ain’t gonna get it done with denver this year???? you just never know till after that draft?
